Dear Family and Friends,
It's getting late on Tuesday night -- Sharon is showering and I need to head for bed soon also. Since it has been a week or so without writing stories and sending pix, thought would take a minute for a short report.
The world continues to shrink. Facts to prove it:
Of course we are in Tanzania. Pastor Seth arrived at the end of last week, and Bill & Marilyn Sanders (from DeKalb) arrived Monday evening. Jack Cress has tickets for July. Just spoke with DHS principal's daughter, who recently arrived in Arusha from Dar es Salaam -- hope to have lunch with her later this week. And Family Stubbs members are very involved and well known in this area of the world. Maybe these facts just prove that Tanzania is becoming the place to be!
And if you are going to be in TZ, you must always look for a glimpse of Kili, Mt. Kilimanjaro, actually a inactive volcano, but the highest mountain in Africa and one of the highest in the world outside of the Himalayas and the Andes. It is losing its snow cap from global warming, so noticeably less snow visible now than when we first saw it in 2001. Actually, it's rather seldom that the top is un-cloud-covered -- we were lucky to catch a glimpse as we returned Saturday from our seminar near Dar es Salaam. Maybe someday before Mike loses his hiking legs, some of our grandchildren will come with us to Tanzania and climb Kilimanjaro? Anyone else interested?
Closer to "home", and perhaps not quite so picturesque:
Sunday morning, as Sharon prepared breakfast, one of our local "friends" was sitting on the window sill, looking through the window to watch her set the table. Mike was too slow getting the camera to get that close-up shot, but did catch the "family" playing in the backyard. Can you find 7 monkeys? And at least 3 others were in the trees nearby.
Not hard to figure out who the Dad of this family is:
Hope all is well and everyone is enjoying good weather.
Peace and love,
Mike and Sharon
